Lego Serious Play®

A fun, inclusive and creative way to bring people together

Looking for a workshop for your team that doesn’t feel like work? Lego Serious Play® is a methodology used in professional and workplace settings to help your team tap into their best thinking. Lego Serious Play® allows each participant to build their thoughts and ideas using Lego bricks.

Lego Serious Play® Workshops create an engaging, fun, and honesty-infused way to facilitate corporate workshops.

Based on various organisational development and design theories, Lego Serious Play® allows your teams to break down barriers, eliminate roadblocks of discomfort and self-consciousness, and empowers people to tap into their subconscious selves without even knowing it.

Even the quietest voice in the room has a chance to be heard!

Imagine you are the CEO and you’ve called a meeting to gain a deeper understanding as to why the business is losing customers. You’ve invited the COO, the Regional Manager, the Clinic Manager, Accounts Payable and the Receptionist. During the meeting it is obvious some contributors are holding back, while others aren’t contributing at all.

How does the same meeting look like using the LSP® methodology? The facilitator asks the room “Using Lego, build why you think this company is losing its customers”.

After five minutes, everyone has built a model and now everyone is asked to explain their model to the group. Now you have everyone participating, and you have just learned some amazing insights.

One of our Lego Serious Play® Facilitators shares why she loves this method: “Participants can represent complex ideas, relationships, and concepts using the bricks, creating a visual representation of their thoughts. This helps individuals think more concretely, visualise connections, and gain new insights into problems or challenges.”

Currently we offer Lego Serious Play® workshops in Perth, Mandurah and other regional locations in WA by arrangement. We also are affiliated with certified LSP® Facilitators in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Better outcomes, creatively

Lego Serious Play® is a facilitation method that uses toy bricks as a tool for problem-solving, communication, and creative thinking in a group setting. There are several reasons why Lego Serious Play® is considered effective:

Hands-on and interactive: Lego Serious Play® engages participants in a hands-on and interactive way. By building physical models with bricks, participants can externalise their thoughts and ideas, making abstract concepts more tangible.

Metaphorical expression: Lego Serious Play® allows participants to express themselves metaphorically. The bricks serve as a medium for individuals to communicate and share their perspectives, experiences, and emotions symbolically. Metaphors can unlock different perspectives within a group.

Equal participation: Lego Serious Play® promotes equal participation among group members. Each participant is encouraged to contribute their ideas through building and storytelling. This equalising effect encourages collaboration and ensures that diverse viewpoints are considered.

Storytelling and narrative construction: Lego Serious Play® incorporates storytelling and narrative construction. Participants not only build models but also share the stories behind their creations. This storytelling aspect deepens the understanding of  ideas and promotes active listening within the group.

Engaging and enjoyable: Lego Serious Play® creates an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere, which can help reduce inhibitions and foster creativity. The playful nature of bricks makes the process more engaging and enjoyable for participants, enhancing their willingness to participate.

Lego Serious Play® is a method for problem-solving, ideation, and collaboration, making it a powerful tool for facilitating group discussions, fostering creativity, and generating innovative solutions.
